In the booth, TDS will be showcasing TDS TransitionManager™, as well as our range of vendor-independent data center services including data center relocations, critical infrastructure assessment and strategy. Several TDS Principals will be in the booth, so stop by to discuss your projects, and meet the team.

Auditing Data Center IT Assets

Because of the continuing growth in the number and complexity of IT applications, and the ever increasing server and storage resources they require, most IT organizations are faced with a constant demand for additional data center power and space. The ability to meet these demands in a timely fashion, and without unexpected budget surprises, is critical to business success. In order to establish capacity trends, and thus to plan for future requirements, IT organizations must accurately track IT assets and their power and space demands, as well as overall data center utilization.

However, the task of keeping a fully accurate and up to date inventory of all of the equipment in a data center is difficult, time consuming, and expensive because of the labor-intensive manual process.  Many organizations find that this task is not only time consuming and error prone, but also takes in-house staff away from their “normal” responsibilities.

Given these in-house constraints, it is probably unsurprising that TDS typically finds a 20% discrepancy in data center audits, discovering 20% more assets and applications.

To help IT organizations better manage their data center assets, TDS offers comprehensive on-site data center audit service by providing on-site data center audit services. Our expert engineers perform a detailed inventory of data center infrastructure and populate the collected data into our on-line data center management tool which will provide your IT and Facilities teams with access to key operational and capacity planning information, including:

•           Accurate data center floor layouts
•           Detailed rack elevations
•           Cabinet space capacity and utilization
•           Cabinet level power allocation and utilization
•           Device power supply to PDU connection data
•           Asset inventory

Additionally, TDS is available to perform recurring data center audits, typically monthly or quarterly, to provide a detailed report of changes since the prior audit event, as well as on-going capacity utilization trend reports.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions concerning this new offering and how it can be beneficial to your organization.
