Create On-Demand IT Disaster Recovery Plans

When an outage occurs, you need to restore service – fast. But most IT organizations store app data across multiple systems and teams need to manually piece together data from different sources and map out dependencies.

How can IT respond faster, and meet RTOs, SLAs, and regulatory requirements?

What about providing proof of recovery when sites failover in banking and other industries?

With TransitionManager™ , you can quickly see the blast radius of an outage, identify the apps affected, and dynamically generate a runbook that will coordinate the tasks to bring apps back up in the right order. And, build recovery plans for complete site failover to maintain service, and provide an audit trail showing the exact tasks that occurred with time, date and task owner.

TransitionManager: The Solution for Disaster Recovery

Rapid recovery from unexpected outages requires understanding dependencies for each application so you can quickly identify and bring those assets back online in the correct order and restore service. TransitionManager aggregates the disparate sources of information across IT into a single, accurate, actionable set of data, and presents it visually in an interactive map. When you can SEE how your apps work, it’s easy to identify dependencies across hybrid environments, and build and maintain always-accurate recovery plans.

Benefits
  • No more spreadsheets
  • On-the-fly runbook generation
  • Flexible testing – supports any DR test method
  • Audit trails for each application for proof of compliance

Full DR and App Recovery Project

When business systems go down, IT needs to quickly identify the root cause and restore service while adhering to business SLAs and any regulatory compliance requirements. But in a dynamic environment where the only constant is change, how can IT know where apps are hosted, which assets they depend on to run, and the correct order to restore each system? Is full system failover or high availability sufficient? And how does IT keep current with changing regulations, and updated customer SLA requirements?

TDS experts can help your team manage a complete solution for your organization. The process starts with Rapid App Mapping service,  then we work with your team to define business and IT criteria for an app recovery strategy. In a pilot project, we’ll plan a full recovery test and execution plan for Tier 1 applications, and then execute the plan and make required changes. Your team will have the ability to dynamically generate runbooks to periodically test DR and recovery plans, or execute them when an outage occurs.

Rapid App Mapping for DR/App Recovery

Most IT organizations have many data sources, but no way to look at the data in one place. And they have many tools that automate migration and recovery – but these tools just move apps and workloads, and they need you to provide the configuration information and specific information about which assets move, in what order, and where they move to and from.  TransitionManager solves these problems by creating an actionable set of data, and provides IT with a visual, app-centric view of complex, hybrid environments.

Working with your team, we will incorporate critical business facts, including RTOs, SLAs, and compliance requirements. We will provide an assessment of your apps and their supporting infrastructure and evaluate how they align with business criticality and risk levels. Your team will be able to identify exposure, make smart decisions about your apps to meet business and legal requirements.

Custom DR Plan

Most organizations have some type of DR plan in place, but because IT is such a dynamic environment, plans are often out of date. With TransitionManager, IT can generate a runbook that sequences the tasks to recover apps based on the current state of your environment. So your plans are always accurate and current. Whether you are looking to build a failover test plan for your whole site, a recovery plan for Tier 1 apps, or you’re at risk of a compliance violation and need proof of ability to recover,

TDS can help you build the plan you need. We have created recovery plans for large retail, manufacturing, healthcare organizations and banks – where there is no room for error.  Our team integrate with migration and workload transport tools, saving you hours of configuration time, and enabling you to recover at scale. Bring your team piece of mind with on-demand recovery executed with precision, and without human error.

Happy State Bank

Regional Bank Dramatically Improves DR Preparedness and Reduces Costs

The Challenge
Happy State Bank in Amarillo Texas recently launched a major initiative to consolidate different databases, refresh their infrastructure and build a resilient IT environment, able to execute a failover plan without risk of disrupting services to customers.
The Solution
HSB relies on TDS’s TransitionManager software for its dynamic dependency analysis and automated runbook technology to quickly prepare for regular DR tests, validate the assets, teams and dependencies between tasks and systems, and execute seamlessly. This has resulted in an RTO reduction from 13 hours to just under 6 hours. The staff requirements to complete these disaster recovery requirements have also been reduced from 1,500 hours to 750 hours annually.

We help IT manage change, even when it's unexpected.
