TDS TransitionManager Software Evaluated in New Gartner Report
Westborough, MA—June 5, 2015—Transitional Data Services (TDS), a leading provider of services and software to manage the end-to-end process for data center and IT transformations, announced today that it has been recognized as a “cool vendor” by analyst firm Gartner in a report titled “Cool Vendors in Data Center Management, Power and Cooling, 2015.” (authored by Henrique Cecci, Jay E. Pultz and April Adams, May 6, 2015).
TransitionManager was initially developed by TDS for internal use to accelerate velocity of migration projects by cutting through complexity and dramatically increasing staff productivity. While TDS uses the system to support their own client IT transformations, TransitionManager has also been available as a stand-alone application and has been installed at leading companies in healthcare, retail, finance and energy. TDS also recently signed a strategic supply agreement with a large global IT services company who plans to use the TransitionManager system for their own delivery of transformation services.
A Continuous Approach to IT Transformation
TransitionManager is different from other data center infrastructure management (DCIM) products in that it takes top down approach covering the full gamut of physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure while breaking down the silo barriers between physical infrastructure, application software and support services. By leveraging TransitionManager, IT groups can, as Gartner suggests, embrace a more cohesive approach across all functional groups in the organization (facilities, IT and business units). As a result, TransitionManager finally enables the adoption of a continuous process approach where IT transformation is viewed as a series of multiple on-going transitions, not a one-time project such as a data center move. This results in an increased velocity of IT transformations and lower risk.“We are delighted that Gartner has recognized TDS and TransitionManager as a Cool Vendor,” said Mike Bullock, CEO and co-founder of Transitional Data Services. “From discovery, to planning, to execution, companies benefit tremendously using our application-centric approach to complex IT migrations – including hybrid physical, cloud, virtual and SaaS environments.”
TransitionManager provides a top-down and application centric perspective of physical inventory (racks, servers, storage, network); logical inventory (OS, VMs, applications, databases and compliance); and the ability to visualize complex relationships and dependencies between the various asset types critical for the application to remain fully functional. TransitionManager also includes customizable workflows with real-time execution that virtually eliminates dependency and sequence errors, while providing dashboards and reports necessary for assessing, planning and implementation data center and IT transformations.
